How much will it cost?
At Walkers we pride ourselves on the quality of instruction and that’s why we train to the highest standards. Our goal is for all trainees to eventually work for Walkers and on that basis we significantly discount our courses and invest time to train you properly (unlike some other “brightly coloured” driving schools). Trainees who join Walkers commit to a franchise contract and thus reduce the cost of training and guarantee themselves work to gain the experience needed to become an ADI.
By taking a Walkers franchise you guarantee a job, a healthy work load as a trainee and as an ADI. You also guarantee 100% commitment from Walkers since your qualification is a mutual interest. For more information visit our franchise page.
Our complete training course is paid for in three parts and you only pay for the training you need.  Training is done at your own pace and there is no need to fork out thousands of pounds in advance.


Part I:

  • Start up support. We do all the paperwork! Sign you up to the ADI register and help you apply for your CRB checks.
  • Books and software package designed to get you through your theory test is all included in the price.
  • Telephone support and additional in school 1 to 1 theory sessions.
  • Book your mock test and actual test and if you pass first time (within 8 weeks) you receive £50 kickback incentive on part II training with Walkers.
  • ONLY £150 (inc DSA test fees)

Part II

  • Up to 8 Hours 1 to 1 advanced driving lessons taken at your own pace. 
  • Your test is booked and arrange for you and if you pass 1st time (within 8 weeks) you receive £100 kickback incentive on part III training with Walkers.
  • ONLY £350 (inc DSA test fees)

Part III

  • A 40 Hour week long intensive course covering all aspects of driving instruction. The course covers core curriculum required for your trainee license.
  • We apply for your trainee license( DSA license fee not included ) so you can start working and earning asap!

  • All from ONLY £900*

*This price is on 2-1 training basis, should 1-1 training be required there is an additional payment of £300. Part 2 and 3 include IN CAR training only, we do not use classrooms as a substitute for hands on experience. Part 3 training is supplied on a subsidized basis, trainees must commit to a trainee franchise contract which includes the compulsory training required by the DSA. Any additional training required can be purchased at £30 per hour and for a minimum of 2 hours per session. Please note all our training is overseen by our head trainer who is ordit registered and has over 15 years experience in this industry.


Single payment: pay in advance for parts I, II and III only £1300*.


How much will I earn?
As a driving instructor earning potential is high! Lesson prices range from £18 - £29 per hour.
As a trainee at Walkers we recommend you give around 30-35 lessons per week, that’s a gross income of over £700.
Qualified and experienced ADI’s give between 40-55 lessons per week, that’s a gross income of about £1000!
As a Walkers instructor you will have 2 main expenses.

  • Your trainee franchise cost which includes sourcing of your pupils and a fully maintained vehicle.
  • Your fuel expenses which depend on type of vehicle and lessons taught. Walkers School of Motoring use suitably small and economical vehicles.

So it really does pay to become a driving instructor! You could be taking home between £400-£700 profit per week, and you have a fully maintained company car at your disposal.

Start up support: At Walkers we don't ask the instructors to pay full franchise until you are earning enough income to cover it. We build up you rent payments gradually in 25% increments relative to the amount of work you have received.


Walkers Pupil Guarantee:  At Walkers we put our money where our mouth is. We won't charge you full franchise until you have had at least 15 pupil introductions from walkers directly within the first 12 weeks of your contract. You can then either leave walkers without any notice or extend the start up support.
